first track i heard by future prophecies was 'september' which is really unoffensive and borderline schmaltzy liquidfunk. when i heard the rest of the warlords rising album it was it quite a shocker since i suspected a whole slew of hospitalsounding schmaltzers. it was a mixed bag but did lean on the darkstep side, some went a bit overboard but this is right on point.
starting with some glitchy cuts and some eiry pads it goes into the karin krog vocal sample which makes from moody into menacing with the atmosphere around it. enter a typical riff and a deep bassline and some crisp drums and you have a cracking tune.
