old - knee hang gang (sandra mosh remix)

my relation to sandra mosh came as she were on national radio for a few years and talked about new and interesting dance music but she also delivered dj-mixes once a month. i became a fan of her selection and djing and also came to hear her live and really enjoyed it. last year she started moving on to production and her first output was a really well made remix for swedish label kant recordings and their release of liss c. & urim s. salee's "constant emotion".

ever since then i've been on the look for more as i also follow her on twitter and she announced through an interview with djungeltrumman.se that some more music was in the works. including a debut ep, a remix of gnučči's upcoming single "work", this one and a few other remixes. naturally i was quite excited about the first two mentioned as i'm interested in hearing original work from mosh but also since i love gnučči as well.

when sandra mosh was a guest on swedish podcast jenny & vänner she played this and the gnučči remix and while i love it, i was even more entranced with the remix of "knee hang gang". i didn't know of the original but i have heard it now and it somewhat sounds like a continuation of what ladytron & miss kittin was doing about ten years ago. quite a nifty track but in sandra mosh's hands it's taken into a whole different field.

the first thing i heard was that acid wobble and a subdued vocal sample and i was in love from that moment. it chugs on a in a really slow & hypnotic matter with ample emphasis put on reverb and effects. a pulsating bass sets the track on it's way firmly along with a sturdy kick on top it's a combination of airy pads and sounds along with choice fragments of the vocal. some additional stuttering and delay is used extensively on the vocal to great effect as it correlates with the rest of the track's somewhat dubby-esque feel.

a stunning piece of brooding techno and if it's anything that i have to complain about it then it's too short. i mean seriously, something like this sounds like it needs to be a fifteen minute anthem of sorts. however i'll just probably fix that "complaint" by doubling up and start mixing the second copy on the latter half of the song. proper.

(yes, i know it's been a bit of a break between entries but i'll going to keep it to a more sporadic setting until i find inspiration to blog again)
