found this in one of the many bargainbinning expeditions, did not know in any respects of what it was or how it remotely sounded. i bought it solely on the fact that it said simon posford in the credits and was not disappointed when i came home and listened to it.
it's a 100bpm house track with some very minor trancy synthwork and with some calm female vocals by some uncredited girl. my single also included a marvelous remix by sub sub (who know is known as 'the doves')

sébastien léger - victory (josh wink interpretation)
victory was a straightforward filter number and wink did what he does and takes the best parts and runs with it. here he worked some of the sequences but instead of the sleek nature and the edits that léger went for, it's about the banging techno groove and it pays off quite well. best part is the popped snare right before it kicks in from the drop.

franz ferdinand - i'm your villain
mate of mine used to play this all the time and say every time that if they only done it with just the dancegroove it would have been so much better. bollocks to that, it's a simple trick in rock with the changing the tempo for the chorus/hook but it's more fun this way.

dayeene - alright
i bought this cdsingle dirtcheap at skivbörsen (stockholm,st.eriksplan), i had not heard the track but i knew who dayeene was and the fact that it was a stonebridge production because dayeene was in part of the swemix family. from 1991, and stoney had not yet done the robin s remix that would make him famous but it does feature the same vibe with the simple riff and newyorkgarage vibe.

peace division - blacklight sleaze
peace division used to do gritty house productions with a lot of tribal drums but after they laid low in 2004 they came back with club therapy which was originally a remix of dan diamond's therapy. this signified a change in the sound, gone was the drums and in came the dirty techy vibes. blacklight sleaze is a dark subtle housestory with spoken vocals about the streetwalking game from flamboyant artist pleasant gehman. the groove is heavy, the bass is deep and mood is dark.

janet jackson - if (brothers in rhythm house mix)
dave seaman & steve anderson aka brothers in rhythm could do nothing wrong in the early 90's, when it came to their remix work, both the commisioned and the dmc ones. something that they really did well was using pianos, like in this remix. janets vocals sit on top of a piano driven housebeat and the highlight is the bridge in the middle where they looped the 'dum da dum' hook and worked it until the track hits the middle 8 before unleashing the vocal again and then a mighty break.
