paula abdul - vibeology (hurley's house mix)

i had no idea about this one until i saw a youtube-clip from the djtutor.com guys doing a sampling after a crate dig where jonathan (aka ellaskins) & brian (briansredd) been to chicago and bought records. brians first record was this perticular track to which johnathan id'd that it was a steve "silk" hurley production from the first bar or drums. as for the original, i had heard it on mtv when i was younger but it's not one paula abduls hits on this side of the atlantic, well atleast not in sweden.

steve "silk" hurley strips the original down to the core and keeps the sax and the piano and work out a chunky groove. i used it in my guestmix for the plastic love podcast and it was amongst the records i had set in stone when i was working out the tracklist. proper nice track ye

erykah badu - on & on (summer in sydney remix)

essentially a mashup of the erykah badu track and the quincy jones version of 'summer in the city'. works very well, done by uk producers turbomen. the 7" is well worth tracking down, not just for this version but also for the flip which is just the quincy jones track but sublimely & subtly reworked.
